Last week, during our class reflection sessions on our novel, students were working in pairs, and were asked to write simple connections that they made with the key characters in the book, Snow Treasure. What really impressed me was how well the students worked together in teams, shared ideas, and productively brainstormed. Once the students completed their mini Keynote presentations, they were asked to share them with the rest of the class using their iPads. It was clearly evident that all students were on task, enthusiastic about their learning, and keen to share!
I was amazed at the quality of work that our students were able to produce in such short time. It was also obvious that all students were engaged, motivated, and interested in using technology to help them learn. Even our shy and quiet students enjoyed sharing their presentations with the rest of the class - wow!!! This truly was a teaching and learning moment for all of us in Division 2. Our tech leaders in the classroom were willingly helping set up the iPads and assisting our presenters. Teamwork was the KEY in all aspects.
After thinking and reflecting back on what I observed in my class, the high level of student engagement was the catalyst for me to process my thoughts and thinking in a blog format. I also realized that if I want my students to begin to blog that I must also role model for them. This will be a joint venture for myself and my students where the class website and blog will represent our learning journey. The students and I will work together as a TEAM to share and learn from each other as we continue our learning journey, together.
I am also in the process of setting up our class website, and we should have more of the drop down menu items up and running by the end of the week. Feel free to visit and comment:-)
